Some weekend inspiration

Need a new bracelet? May I recommend this one:

Need an amazing, thought-provoking book to read? Seriously, you have to read this:

Need a new recipe? Give these a go. Cheap and tasty! Edited to add: Do yourself a favour though and don't microwave plastic containers, or use a 'microwave safe plastic bag' as stated on the link. Really, is there such a thing as microwave safe plastic? I don't think so!

Have a great weekend!

Learning something new

I love scrapbooking and cardmaking, but I decided it is time to stop being afraid of the unknown and try a few new crafts. So, enter crochet. Well if we are going to accurately describe last night's creative efforts it should be called 'enter small length of very tight rope that most certainly has no intention of allowing a crochet hook through it anywhere!'. Apparently also known as 'tension was a little tight'. LOL

I'm having fun trying something that I had written off as too hard for me. I'm thinking a lot more practice, a few more ropes and perhaps I'll get the hang of it.

Funny kid

Annie is at home sick today. Well she was sick this morning. Now she is in the loungeroom playing hide and seek - with her dummy! She puts the dummy on the lounge, walks away, puts her hands over her eyes and says 'Dummy hiding'. Then uncovers her eyes, says 'Where's dummy?' and runs over to it on the lounge shouting 'There you are!'. It all seems very exciting to her! :)

And because I don't have any photos to share, here are a few cards I created...

And the winner is...

MEL! I had sent 99 cards at that time (I've cracked the 100 mark now) and Mel guessed 98. :)

Thanks to everyone who had a guess. Who knows, you might find a handmade card in your mailbox soon.

I love my life!

Some days truly are perfect. So far today Annie and I have walked Callum to school, read books, played with a teddy bear puzzle, had morning tea (apple and banana), played chasings, made a chair for Lola out of blocks (see pic below) and painted Annie's toenails and fingernails pink (she saw mine and wanted hers done too).
And I have done two loads of washing (both now hanging on the line), washed the dishes, packed a parcel to send this afternoon and wasted some time on the internet.

Annie is asleep now so I will go get a few more things done. I love days like this. Have a great day! :)

Making changes

As of this week we are now officially a one-job, one-car family. Although I made the decision a couple of months ago I only officially resigned from my government job last week. The written confirmation that my resignation has been accepted came in today's mail. I thought that resigning would be frightening, but it has actually been quite empowering. I have felt really in control of my life and the direction that I am taking and the decisions I'm making. I have absolutely no doubt that resigning is the best decision for me and my family. When the time is right I will return to the workforce, but for now I want to be able to look after my family, pick up Callum from school every afternoon and sit and play with Annabelle during the day without constantly worrying about having no time.

As for the car, well the insurance company deemed it to be uneconomical to repair so it was written off. :( Bye bye car. Dale and I have decided not to replace it for now. I will be taking Callum to school (and Annie to daycare Mon/Tues) on foot. I will also be walking Annabelle to her gymnastics lessons on Fridays and to the playcentre when we decide to go. Really, everything that we do is within about a 3km radius of our house so there is no need for a car for me. It just requires a little extra planning, time and good weather. :)

Body Shop Giveaway

I know I promised a '300 posts giveaway' ages ago and forgot about it, so here's a nice giveaway to make up for it. I will send the winner a brand new 50mL container of this:

To be in the running just leave me a comment with the number of handmade greeting cards you think I have sent out so far this year (up to today 15/10/09). The person who is closest wins! Easy as that! I'll leave it open for a week and will announce a winner on 23/10/09. :)

EDITED TO ADD: Number is between 1 and 120. :) You girls are being way too generous in how many I've sent!
